Matthew Cohen
Managing Partner
Matt is a Co-Founder of GCP Advisory LLP and is known as a thought leader within the profession. Matt is passionate about helping clients understand and navigate the technical and emotional complexities that come with managing a business, growing wealth, preserving it, and ultimately creating a legacy. As a second-generation CPA, Matt realized at an early age he could channel his passions for helping people and his love for numbers by majoring in psychology and business economics at UC Santa Barbara.
Matt began his career at KPMG, a Big Four firm, where he earned his CPA concentrating in audit. While the field of audit provided an excellent foundation for his career, in 2011, Matt transitioned to mid‐market tax and business consulting to more closely align with his ultimate goal: working alongside clients. From there, he developed specialized expertise in servicing ultra‐high net worth families, the real estate sector, and the entertainment industry. He’s invigorated not only by mastering the numbers, but making them meaningful to clients. Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time with his boy‐girl twins Cooper and Georgia, playing tennis, and frequenting the Hollywood Bowl and the Comedy Store.
